Sioux Center Health received a grant award of $25,000 from the Pella Rolscreen Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Pella Corporation, to support the Growing Community Building Project. “We are grateful to be able to support our local community through this grant and appreciate the services and amenities Sioux Center Health provides today and into the future,” stated Denny Van Zanten, Pella Corporation Sioux Center Plant Manager. “Thanks to the hard work of our team members, the Pella Foundation is able to award grants like this to benefit the communities where Pella Corp. team members live and work.”
Sioux Center is a growing, vibrant community encompassing residents across the entire lifespan. One of the reasons the community continues to grow is that people stay in our community, invest in and remain connected to the community throughout their entire lives. As our community grows, so do the medical needs. The Growing Community building project incorporates growth on our senior living campus including 32 new skilled nursing rooms, 24 assisted living and 16 memory care apartments. A main street development will connect the two senior living spaces to create a place for residents to come together in community. A few items included on Main Street will be a social club, salon, café and chapel.
Additionally, this project includes an expansion to the current primary medicine and specialty clinic on the hospital campus. Due to more patients, appointment availability is limited. Built into the design are more exam rooms and additional physicians to better serve patients. The final piece of the project involves the construction of a free-standing medical office building. This will relocate our Home Medical Equipment and Occupational Health services. A major benefit to this building will be the proximity to ancillary services for our manufacturing and business community. If a local business is utilizing our occupational health services and need additional laboratory services, being located on the same campus will create efficiencies in travel time and money for both internal and external customers.
The project timeline includes architectural design and review through the month of January, ground-breaking in the spring of 2020, and an anticipated project completion in 2022. The total project budget is $33 million with a goal of $6 million being supported through donations and grants. Cory Nelson, CEO shares, “Sioux Center Health looks forward to creating new opportunities for our community members to access care and needed services right here at home so they can continue to benefit from the support of family, friends and their faith community. We are appreciative of the collaboration with our community businesses and thank the Pella Rolscreen Foundation for their support.”
